FISHING TECHNIQUES

Jigging

Jig - What is it?

The jig fishing, or vertical jig fishing, is very popular today, which has been long widely practiced in Japan, and allows the capture of a wide variety of fish.

The jig is done from a boat. It is a deep-sea fishing, from 20 to over 150 meters with sealed metal lures called jigs which sunk to the bottom before a surge, in rocking vertically. The special profile of the jigs allows the butterflies move under water during the descent. It can explores, with the jig, a large column of water.
With the specific material developed, especially in Japan, the jig allows exploration of deeper zones and subject to strong currents that are very much exploited by other forms of fishing. The jig can make fishing a incredible days, but we should be careful not too fish into the area of  species conservation. Also, try to release the fish that have not reached reproductive size.

The jig is constantly busy. Depending on the fish sought with the jig, the animation of metal lure will differ in its magnitude. Specifically, for ground fish, such dentex, grouper or cod, it will flow up the jig in a height of ten or fifteen feet from the bottom. Thus, the jig can get the fish from where it is.

Conversely, for open-water fish such as pelagic type such as bonito, yellowtail or tuna, it will cover the entire depth from surface to bottom, which quickly becomes very physical. A little advice to pass: Accelerate the return of the jig when you get closer to the surface because it is an area where the fish swim faster.

The jig are most often taken during the ascent and cause violent departure, the brake must be on the grass. The battle that follows is very intense and your first trophy jig will undoubtedly leave a lasting memory for you  that will call others.

Trolling

Trolling is a fishing technique which is to leave unattended or live bait behind a boat moving at a slow or average speed, in about 3 to 5 knots, and up to 10 knots. It is sometimes practiced using an echo sounder to monitor structures and determine the best places.

Equipment

The train can be made lighter with a simple roll, holding the line by hand with gloves. More generally, it is done using solid canes or 2-strand fiber glass or carbon, featuring ceramic rings or pulley. These sticks have a capacity of 10-30 lbs for light trolling, and 50-130 lbs for heavy trolling. "In light trolling reels are fixed spool or drum rotating, capacity 300-500 m with wire resistance of 10-30 lbs. For heavy trolling reels are essentially have a rotating drum power of 6 / 0-12 / 0 (50-130 lbs), with the capacity of 500-800 m and 50-130 lbs."

Several trolling accessories existed :

  • The Bubble: This accessory is more frequent in fishing which can also be used to keep the lure at the surface and creates a spray of water ahead of the lure, attracting predators. If the bubble is filled with water, it keeps the lure in a few tens of centimeters below the surface.
  • The downrigger: weight several kilos in order to fix the line. This technique allows to reach deep down in water.
  • The surface drifter : float with a guides who can lead the line outside the ship's wake, convenient for shallow water and thus avoid scaring the fish.
  • The plate diving plaque that causes the deep row. The accuracy is not as great as with the downrigger, which requires heavy equipment.
  • Walker Substantive achieves intermediate depths but also ensure that we are directly responsible.

Different types of lures.

Lures are varied and depend on the type of capture sought, types of juveniles present at this time in the water, and light. The most commonly used are:

  • The type lures of "Rapala" in the form of swimming fish.
  • Spoons
  • The soft plastic lures with octopuses shape. For heavy back, it can be mounted on a skirt jig, a total length of 20-40 cm.
  • The lures feathers.
  • A whole or cut bonito, which been used for a fishing for swordfish.
  • Swordfish can be caught using lures of simple frayed rope, without hooks: piece of the rope hanging on the rostrum of the swordfish. This type of fishing is practiced in some Madagascar  region.

Fishing Techniques

The trolling was light and allowed the capture of coastal parts of medium size, very varied
• in tropical waters: grouper, kingfish, barracuda, wahoo, tuna and bonito, etc..
The trolling is also the main technique used in fishing, it is sometimes known under the term of "heavy drag" and allows the capture of swordfish, tuna and mahi-mahi, etc.. In this type of fishing at sea, several lines are drawn, some carrying lures without hooks (“teaser''), used only to attract the big predators such as espadon. The reel brake is loosened slightly to the left reeling, and the line vibrates very loudly when touch. The speed of the boat allows the hook of the fish, and the engine speed is then slowed to avoid a stall or the line breaking, but have to be maintained at a sufficient rate to maintain tension on the line and avoid a stall. The line is reduced by the fisherman who mauling using a series of pumping. This type of "battle" could last several hours

Popping

This popper concept is awesome , this lure has its front (nose of the lure) bent in such a way that each drawn from the tip of the stick, this part shoot in to the water by puncturing the surface of the water and making the angry "pop" sound   and leaving a trail of bubbles behind him.

This "pop" sound at the surface of the water can  aroused the curiosity / aggressive predator in the sea.

With the application of powerful video and radio for your advantage , the popper vibrates rather silent basic frequency coupled to a cavitations effect on the surface which perfectly reproduce the leak of a panic prey, the bubbles left in the trail of the popper also help facilitated the vision of the predator that will follow the trail very closely before attacking!

This whole thing causes the popper to shoot at water surface at a very tense rate with a surprising timing depending on the species sought (freshwater and sea), which also considering the supreme pleasure of watching as the fishermen pulling a trout arise to a dry fly!

This exception may be used to lure on the hunts, in which case we recommend you to take a shot beyond the hunt to bring on it to avoid scaring the predators or hunting in a direct drop of your lure on the hunt, which is never advisable.

In the summer, "are fresh water fishing " without the presence of hunting, in the borders of drowned trees or reeds on these posts, where  blackbass, perch & pike are routinely existed in this period in the shaded areas where the heat and oxygen are in its most productive.

Offshore popper out your day in extreme weather (well its the best time for fishing lures!), Surface water and wind power will prevent stick bait to swim efficiently.
